Time flies....

...when you have a newborn!

My goodness. It's almost been two weeks since my last update... which means that Jackson will be six weeks tomorrow. Where does the time go? It's amazing how much bigger Jackson has gotten since we brought him home. He is quickly changing from my beautiful tiny baby boy to my big handsome baby boy. And along with getting bigger, he's getting much heavier as well. And,. on the stinkier side of things, his poops are getting much bigger too, ick!

Since I last updated we were finally able to visit mommom and poppop smith's house (who might be called mommom and poppop birdie, ha ha). And I must say, I just love seeing how much poppop adores Jackson. You know in the beginning that grandmoms will love and adore and spoil their grandkids like crazy, but seeing poppops with their grandbabies... that's the best. I adored my grandfather, and with the fathers Justin and I were blessed with, I know Jackson will too!

In the last two weeks, Jackson also spent some time away from us. Justin had a work trip for a couple of days so one night I decided to join my sister out for a few hours, so grandmom porter got to babysit, which I know she loved. The next night, Justin had planned for us to join some friends and a small get together, so Jackson got to spend a few hours at Auntie Krista and Uncle Matt's house, which definitely made Krista happy. I can already see how much she's going to spoil this kid.

Justin also finally got the chance to spend the evening alone with the baby. I went back to work last wednesday and fortunately for justin, I was able to come home early... BUT I worked yesterday (Sunday) and it was a late night for us and of course a late night for Justin. We're trying to wean Jackson from the breast, and he's not so happy about it so Justin had a hard time getting him to sleep.

That's another new occurrence. I've always been a small eater. Now dont' get me wrong, I can eat ALOT in one sitting, but I don't eat often... in fact once a day is sometimes enough for me. I even had trouble eating a lot while I was pregnant. And now that I was breastfeeding, Jackson was getting all the nutrients, and I was starting to get dizzy and feel sick a lot. So I made the decision to switch him over to formula. It's a really sucky decision to have to make. I love being able to feed him and I know it's best for him. And I know my decision is not the only one, but in fact it's the selfish, easy one. But with going back to work and school and my crappy eating habits, it's the decision I have to make. But it surely kills me every night when all he wants to do is nurse himself to sleep and I can't or else my milk won't dry up. I wish I could be home with him all the time so I could have exclusively breast fed, but unfortunately, in today's world, stay at home mom's are getting fewer and far between.

Anyhow, onto happier things. I mentioned already how big Jackson is getting. But I must also mention (or brag about) how advanced he is as well. Everyone who's seen him has talked about how strong he is and how much he moves and how well he holds his head. Well, I decided to put that to the test one night so I put him on his belly for tummy play time. And sure enough, he ROLLED OVER!!!!! He rolled from his belly to almost flat on his back. I yelled for Justin to grab the video camera but I think one roll tired the poor baby out and he wouldn't do it again. (By the way, he was 5 weeks and 1 day when he did this). BUT, the next night, he did it again. It's amazing how fast our baby is progressing. Soon enough he'll be crawling and walking.. and then of course I'll be blogging a lot less than I already do because I'll be exhausted from trying to keep up with him.

Well, right now Jackson is asleep in his swing, which he has a new found love for, so while I have the chance I'm going to shower and then it's off to Towson to get books for school which starts one week from today.. BOOOOOO!

Oh... BUT.. before I do, be sure to visit this website to see the rest of Jackson's pictures. Enjoy (and thank you soooo much Mandy!!!!).
